The Never Ending Origin Story
The Lab Leak Origin Story
The U.S Energy Department has concluded that the coronavirus pandemic was more than likely caused by a lab leak in China. The department also noted that this conclusion was made with low confidence. The FBI also confirmed their belief that the spread resulted from a lab leak.
This report has once again revitalized the debate on the cause of the pandemic. There was division regarding whether the origins were from a lab leak or carried from species to species. The news sparked up critics of social media who noted that accounts were censored for discussing the possibility of the lab leak.
CNN has noted that China is pushing back on the lab leak. One thing is for sure; the covid origin story is not going anywhere anytime soon. Republican members of Congress have announced their plans to conduct investigations on this matter as well as Dr. Fauci, who has denied the lab leak theory early on in the pandemic.
Dilbert Pulled After Racist Rant
Scott Adams, creator of the comic strip Dilbert, had his content pulled away from various publications such as The Washington Post, USA Toda, and The Plain dealer.
This stems from a video from Adams’ youtube page in which he goes on a racist rant in reaction to a poll that said 53% of Black Americans agreed with the statement, “It’s OK to be White.” Adams proceeded to call Black people a hate group and also said “It makes no sense to help Black Americans if you're white. It's over. Don't even think it's worth trying”.
Adams seemingly accepted what would be the aftermath of his statements. On the same live stream, he acknowledged he would be called a racist and anticipated most, if, not all, publications would drop his comic strip.

Desantis strips Disney of control. Florida Governor Ron Desantis has signed a bill that gives the state more control over the Reedy Creek Improvement District which essentially allowed Disney to govern itself. Under previous law, Disney had the ability to carry out projects such as creating an airport or building its nuclear plant. Now, however, they will have to answer to a board appointed by Ron Desantis. Critics of the decision have accused Desantis of handing Disney blatant punishment for speaking out against Desantis’ recent legislation on what gets taught in the classroom.
Student Loan Forgiveness has its day in court. Beginning today, the Supreme Court will begin hearing oral arguments regarding President Biden’s student loan forgiveness program. While a decision is expected to be given later this year, whatever is decided will have significant implications.
